Is there not a cause?

1 Samuel 17.

In the midst of an army of men, stood one little boy. One boy who saw clearly who the enemy was and what was at stake. The armies of Israel stood in fear with no man who would fight for them and for their God. Scared for their lives and with little faith in God, they shrank back and watched. Out of a nation of men, only one little boy had the courage to shout, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the Living God?”

David’s older brother attempted to quiet him saying, “Why are you even here? Shouldn’t you be worrying about what YOU were told to do? Go watch father’s sheep, and stop trying to stir up trouble…”

To which David replied, “What have I now done? Is there not a cause??”

This is my question today, Is there not a cause?

Why do we keep silent while evil men rule and reign and destroy the Christian foundations that our country was founded on? Why must we keep quiet about the injustices and blasphemy that these men have carried out??

Where is our David? Who will open their mouth and speak?

There is a cause.

The cause of Christ- We are called to fight- To put on the armor of God and fight to see the truth of the kingdom of God unveiled on the earth. We are called to open our mouths and proclaim, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the Living God?”

We can not turn a blind eye. We have the blood-bought right to be critical of anything that goes against the values of Christianity. Countless men and women have shed their blood on the battlefields for our freedoms. Men and women of the Bible continually called out bad leadership though out its pages. People use Christ wrongfully as a bully to silence the right, claiming love in place of justice and “peace” instead of courage.

In Bible times, becoming a Christian meant defying the very government of the day. It mean suiting up because a very real battle was about to unfold that may cost your very life. It meant a REAL persecution. Christians of modern day know nothing of the battles that those men and women were called to fight, but they may know very soon if we do not open our mouths and speak.

We are called to put on the armor of God.

The armor of God is not just for personal defense in our lives against temptation. It is for offense against the powers of darkness in the world. Too many Christians sit in silence in their houses with their armor on instead of rising up, banding together, and joining the cause for the RIGHT.

THERE IS A CAUSE.

If we are so saddened by the evil in our land, what are we doing to change it??

We do not have to keep silent. In the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, we are CALLED to speak out against wrong doing. Since when is standing for the RIGHT the wrong thing to do? This world would love to label it “hate crimes,” but we have a right and responsibility to God and to country.

Who will speak for God??

Do NOT be hushed by the weak, the scared, or the immoral of this age. It is up to us to turn to God away from wickedness. We will answer for our country just as the leaders of today will. You will answer for the side on which you stood.. and no man will escape judgment who was NOT on the Lord’s side. We can sing “Dare to be a Daniel” all we want, but when push comes to shove, will we stand for the right or shrink back into our closets?

If we do nothing, we are no better than the Christians in Nazi Germany who sat idly by in their warm homes with their mouths closed while the Jews were slaughtered by Hitler. Don’t think they will not answer for their silence.

In the words of a friend, “One day, we might stand before the holy judgement seat of God and he will ask us why we murdered millions of babies and we will say, ‘It wasn’t us. It was the laws passed by our leaders, and we aren’t allowed to disrespect them so we prayed about it and told people who came to our church to love Jesus.’ Then He will ask us why we stood by like Lot did in a generation of immorality, and we will say, ‘God, we hated the sin, but loved the sinner, and we didn’t want to offend anyone so we stood silent.’ Seriously, this is our logical “spiritual” excuse for not standing up against evil??”

This is not just our “generation”, we are part of it, and it is high time we take responsibility. If we are not against the wrong-doers, we are for them. God IS in control, and we will trust in Him no matter what. However, mankind has their choices and we will reap what we sow. After all is said and done, what will we DO to take down the forces of evil and advance the cause of Christ?

See, when we stand with Christ, He stands with us. No matter who is against us, no matter how “big” the enemy is, if we are on God’s side, in the end, we win.

When David stood ALONE on the mountain to do battle with Goliath, he had the supernatural strength of His God. There is no way a boy was projected to win that battle, but when David was courageous enough to stand and speak out against those who were against God, God showed up by David’s side and in the power of his swing. In the name of the Lord, David won a great battle that day.

We do not live in a world of peace and harmony. There are very real battles waiting to be fought against injustice done by people who hate God and who hate the people who claim His name. There are evil powers waiting to be spoken out against. Satan has his followers willing to be HIS hands and feet and mouth. Who will be courageous in our generation to call out the evil doers in the name of our Lord? Put your armor on, Christian, and steady your hearts with prayer. The war wages. It is time we fight.

“Too long have we been waiting for one another to begin! The time for waiting is past! The hour of God has struck! War is declared! In Gods Holy Name let us arise and build! The God of Heaven, He will fight for us, as we for Him. We will not build on the sand, but on the bedrock of the sayings of Christ, and the gates and minions of hell shall not prevail against us. Should such men as we fear? Before the whole world, aye, before the sleepy, lukewarm, faithless, namby-pamby Christian world, we will dare to trust our God; we will venture our all for Him; we will live, and we will die for Him, and we will do it with His joy unspeakable singing aloud in our hearts.” C.T.
