Dear future husband, I hope you know…

Dear future husband,

I hope you know I’m waiting for you. I hope you know that I’m doing my best to make you proud. I’m not wasting my heart anymore on guys who don’t look anything like you. I’m not entertaining anyone who doesn’t have a heart like yours. I’ve dried my tears from my past mistakes- from those guys I thought you were. I was foolish to think that you would treat me so poorly. I know now that you are not perfect, but you are good. I know that you are worth the wait. I know that you are out there. I hope you know I don’t expect the world. I hope you know that all I want is for you to love Jesus, seek his will, do right, and love me the best you can. I hope you are serving Him now every chance you get just as I am trying to do. I hope you know that I don’t want a big house or expensive cars or lots of money in the bank, I’m in it for you. All I want is to love and be loved and to serve God with our life. I hope you know that I’ve got your back. I will stand by you through thick and thin, and I will trust you to make the best decisions for my family. I hope you know that I am so thankful for you. I’m thankful for the man that God is making of you. I’m thankful for this time that we get to grow in Jesus Christ individually so that someday we can grow in Him together. I’m thankful that I will someday get to be the girl to love you and support you and laugh with you and cry with you and raise a family with you. I hope someday you will find all my quotes, all my words, and read them all, and I hope you’ll know they are all about you. I know it’s nothing fancy, and I know it won’t be easy, but this little glimpse of a life with you is what I hold on to when I’m lonely or sad. I hope you know that I’m trusting God to bring you to me in His time. For now, I hope you know that I love you, I’m thinking of you, and praying for you. That’s all.

Love, Lauren

  1. This letter is very dear to my heart. I actually started writing a letter to my future husband the beginning of this year. I think what most people seem to focus on the man and what he can offer As a single Christian female, God is working on our hearts and preparing us to meet our future husband. If its alright I’d like to insert this post in my Love Diary to my future husband as inspiration.

    • OMG, I love that. I wanted to do the same but as an email journal. I feel writing is more intimate but I don’t trust the people I live with to not go snooping around.

  3. I love this so much! I started a journal two years ago on valentines day. I was single and decided to write to my future husband when I’m lonely, sad, or really happy and thinking of him. I plan to give it to my husband on my wedding day! I might add this in! 🙂

  7. As a single Christian guy, I appreciate this insight into what a godly woman is thinking about marriage! It’s also very comforting to know that my future spouse is praying for me just as I have been praying for her! Thank you!

  8. I admire the work that God is doing in you, Lauren: helping young women like me to remember that we have a bigger purpose to be fulfilled in our singleness, but are still able to express a healthy desire for a strong & loving marriage. Hopefully, one day I can grow into and finally learn to walk in my purpose and accomplish what I’m supposed to do as a single. Right now, I cannot say that I do.

  9. It is cool to know there are other girls out there writing prayers and other types of letters down for their future husband. It is something I have been doing for a couple years now. In recent years the letters have turned into prayer stating what God is doing in me in singleness and who I pray I will be based on the various scriptures in the bible about marriage. Cool beans, there are quite a few others praying and writing letters to the Man of God you’ve going to marry.

  10. Amen. What a blessing to read these words.

I see all the comments are from women who feel the same. Honestly, as a guy who is trying his best to do these things for my future wife, its awesome to see women doing the same.

Im not perfect. She wont be perfect. But together, doing it God’s way… who knows the heights God can take such a couple to?

    So… Lauren… keep guarding your heart. Don’t compromise. I won’t either.

    God bless you,
    Mark.

  11. how beautiful – what a perfect picture of my own heart as well. it’s always nice to know we’re not alone in our hope for the future and i love the times that God reminds me that my future husband – although i don’t know where/who he is – is being prepared by God in the same way he’s preparing me. i love knowing we’re part of God’s plan and that our paths will cross when the time is right – no sooner and no later.
    thank you for this!

  16. Dear Thefulltimegirl
I’m your fan since April. I’m a Vietnamese Christian girl who is 21 now. Your entries cheer me up and grow my faith everyday. I’ve done the same, but I keep them all in my journal notebook. :3
I hope that someday me or a Vietnamese woman can write such an inspirational blog like yours. Because not so many Vietnamese youngsters can read a blog in English
And you know, only 1% of Vietnamese people are Christians. We don’t have much resources to inspire young people to keep their faith, especially in their love life
God bless You and your family ❤
