R.I.P. to that girl who thought she wasn’t good enough.

That girl you ignored, used, dumped.

That girl you called those names.

That girl you told that it was her fault.

R.I.P. to the girl who feared that she wasn’t pretty.

Who thought she was too fat for you or not fat enough.

Who thought she wasn’t tall enough or short enough or tan enough.

R.I.P. to the girl who was hurt when she heard you had been talking behind her back.

To the girl who flinched at the sting of the lies and the rumors and the backstabbing.

To the girl who was afraid of who heard you say them.

R.I.P. to the girl who was scared of you and your friends who thought they were so cool.

To the girl who thought you were bigger or stronger or more powerful.

R.I.P. to the girl who cared what you thought or what you said.

To the girl who wanted everyone else to approve of who she was and what she did.

R.I.P. to the girl who you were able to bully and break.

To the girl who needed your permission.

R.I.P. to the girl who was afraid to be tender and outspoken and brave and loving and strong.

To the girl who didn’t stand her ground because of you.

To the girl who allowed the truth to go unspoken.

To the girl who let the lies drown her voice.

To the girl who only let her light shine when she was alone.

To the girl who hid behind a smile.

R.I.P. to the one who didn’t know that the God of the universe was on HER side.

To the girl that didn’t put all of her trust in The Lord.

To the girl who didn’t know that God would see her through ANYTHING.

To the girl who was too timid to shout from the roof tops, “THIS IS WHO GOD MADE ME TO BE.”

R.I.P. to the days that you and the devil win.

R.I.P. to the old me.

  1. Yes! Perfect timing. Oh how the Father loves us. I just want you to know you are truly powerful. Your posts are so inspiring and such a blessing. Please keep doing what you are doing by allowing him to work in you! I look forward to this walk that I’ve finally proclaimed after years of going my own way. All the way from Dallas, Tx Bless you Miss Lauren!

  2. So incredibly beautiful and necessary for me to read! It’s amazing how as I read through that list, I realized that a huge majority were things that I had done. I didn’t stand up for the truth because I was too scared, I felt it was my fault and I let peoples words get to me. But that was the old me. The me that God created knows she stands firm in His word and that the old is gone. New days are here and Jesus is by my side to enjoy them with me. Thank you Lauren!

  3. I’d also add a R.I.P. to the girl who perhaps unknowingly aided the devil in keeping the guys eyes & heart away from God as well. ( I certainly was once ” that” girl )

  4. Love this! I am so thankful that because of Jesus I am not the “old me” anymore and I am not ashamed to boldly proclaim His name☺ Thank you for sharing. Your words are always so inspiring!

  5. This is exactly what I needed to hear at exactly the right time. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece, it has been such a blessing to me and I am sure it will give other women the strength to Stand UP! To tell the devil it’s over and those days are gone, I am ready to do gods work and to live my life with purpose putting him first. Thank you again, and God Bless you!

  6. Thank you very much. 🙂 I could see old myself with that girl: that girl who was hurt when she heard her crush talking behind her back, that girl who used to feel that she wasn’t good enough for him, that girl who cared so much what other people thought of her. 😦 but by the grace of God, I’m no longer that girl anymore. 🙂
